About Krewe du Pooch

Krewe du Pooch began as a simple idea sparked by a conversation between the City of Mandeville and the Old Mandeville Business Association. Community members joined the discussion and together, they envisioned a festive community event that would celebrate the joy dogs bring to our lives while supporting an important cause of helping local rescue organizations care for animals in need.

From that conversation, the Krewe du Pooch Dog Parade and Costume Contest was born. What started as a creative way to bring the community together quickly grew into one of Mandeville’s most beloved annual traditions. Each year, hundreds of participants and spectators gather to watch costumed pups parade through Old Mandeville, showcasing creativity, humor, and plenty of tail-wagging spirit.

As the event continued to grow, so did its mission. The Krewe du Pooch nonprofit organization was created in 2024, establishing a dedicated structure to support and expand the event’s charitable impact. Today, Krewe du Pooch partners with the City of Mandeville to host the annual parade and costume contest, with proceeds benefiting local animal rescue groups that work tirelessly to protect and rehome pets across the region.

Krewe du Pooch is more than a parade, it’s a celebration of community, compassion, and the special bond between people and their pets. Through the support of volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and participants, the event continues to grow while staying true to its original purpose: bringing people together for a fun-filled day that makes a meaningful difference for animals in need.

Whether you march in the parade, enter the costume contest, adopt a new furry friend, or simply cheer from the sidelines, you are part of the Krewe du Pooch tradition.
